Within the framework of regional cooperation, Ecuadorian institutions transferred knowledge and experience to Cuba on the transition toward a low-carbon circular economy model in the metalworking industry.
Integration of sustainability: The training demonstrated that incorporating environmental criteria into the business models of industrial parks and companies in the automotive parts sector is feasible and enhances economic competitiveness.
Structured methodology: Through the measurement–action–communication sequence and the use of tools such as the international industrial parks framework and process reengineering, participants identified challenges, designed practical solutions, and developed shared-value strategies.
Applied training: More than 50 participants strengthened their capabilities through theoretical and practical exercises based on design thinking, promoting the implementation of sustainable processes independently and through cooperation, synergies, and industrial symbiosis.
Institutional collaboration: The alliance between La Tercera Mirada, UNIDO, and Ecuador’s Ministry of Production highlighted that adopting eco-industrial practices and communicating a triple-impact purpose enables organizations to differentiate themselves in the market and advance toward a more responsible and competitive industry.
Regional contribution: The transfer of knowledge from Ecuador to Cuba reinforces Latin American integration and demonstrates that economic growth can go hand in hand with addressing social and environmental challenges.
